100 Word Challenge- Week 6

Twenty Years Later, teen’s murder still a mystery

In the summer of 1987, a young, sweet boy named Michael was found dead in Riverdale’s well known river, Sweetwater River. Police searched for clues left uncovered in the woods and in the tranquil river. When they returned to the station with no evidence, they decided to investigate the people of Riverdale. However, each towns folk had an alibi which made it more difficult to solve the mystery of poor Michael’s death. This made the police wonder if whether the crime scene was either an accident or the work of a smooth criminal. After three months, the case became cold.

  1. Excellent job creating a news report. You have factual information which should be in the news, such as date, place, name.

    Good job.

  2. Hello I am not sure how to spell your name. Is it ANAHI or ANAHIR? Sorry…,
Your piece is well done as a report. You have made good use of vocabulary to set a contrast: tranquil for the SWEET river, but alibi and investigate to reveal the severity of the scene.
    Keep writing.

    Hi Anahi!

A really great piece of crime writing! The way you put forward the story is extremely well balanced and mature. I can relate to this type of writing as I have watched a lot of crime documentaries and reports on the news. Firstly, the reporting aspect: you include all relevant and important pieces of information such as location, date, people involved etc. Secondly, the crime element: the description of the ‘sweet boy’ makes the piece very personal, and therefore relatable. An added bonus was your addition that everyone had alibies. This is really unique, and adds a real layer of mystery to everything. Keep up the good work!

  4. This is a really great piece of writing with some very interesting adjectives which builds intrigue! Your contextual content brings the piece to life!

    Great Job.
